Hi,

Please follow following things and check if issue gets resolved.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html (automatic installer) or
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html (manual installation, if automatic installer does not work)

=> Reconfigure print queue with the commands in the terminal mentioned below.
       => system-config-printer (remove all print queues)
      => su -c "hp-plugin"
             or
      => sudo hp-plugin (This will download right plugin)
       => hp-setup (It should not be run in a root mode. This command is adding print queue, select wifi option. make sure you select ppd name having "-ps" or "hpcups" substring)
=>Try printing now.

If problem does not get solved then please run following command to capture the logs and send the logs.

$su -c "hp-logcapture"

Hi Sanjay,

in mean time I did a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10, but it seems that problem persists. I downloaded and installed latest HPLIP release following your instructions. Automatic installation did the job without showing any errors but do note that even command hp-check reports HPLIP version 3.13.3 when I run dpkg -l hplip command I get information that installed version is 3.12.6 and at the front there is "rc" instead of "ii" how it should be by this guide http://hplipopensource.com/node/306

chaghaboo@el-chupacabra:~$ dpkg -l hplip
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version Architecture Description
+++-==============-============-============-=================================
rc hplip 3.12.6-3ubun amd64 HP Linux Printing and Imaging Sys

When run "sudo hp-setup" I get three options:
1. Download and install the plug-in from an authorized HP server (recommended)
2. Select and install existing local copy of the plug-in file (advanced)
3. Skip the installation of the plug-in (not recommended)
I choose first option, and in next step I get Driver plug-in licence agreement to agree with and in the end message "Plug-in installation successful".

When I run "hp-setup" window titled "Device Discover" pops up to choose connection type, I choose Wireless/802.11 (requires a temporary usb connection and is only available for selected devices) and click Next.

After that new window pops up titled "Wireless (Wifi/802.11) configuration" asking me to connect printer via usb cable what I do and click Next.

Another window opens titled "Select from detected wireless capable devices" in which my printer is listed. I select printer and click Next.

In next windows titled "Find and select a wireless network" I choose my Wifi network and in next window enter wireless security key and after I click on "Connect" small windows pops up saying that printer is connecting to wireless network showing bar with percentages, and after that I window titled "Wireless configuration results" with error message: Your printer has not been connected to wireless network. A valid connection to wireless network can take up to 2 minutes. The window will automatically refresh every 20 seconds. If printer fails to connect within a reasonable time there may be problem with your configuration.

In next messages there are hp-setup, hp-check, and hp-logcapture outputs. Hope this might give some clue.

HP-LOGCAPTURE

I can not provide this as it offers me to capture log for printer tasks (printing, scanning, faxing) and my printer is still not installed to work over Wifi network.

Hi,

Please follow below steps to setup.

1) run hp-setup -g
$ hp-setup -g

--> select 3rd option (i.e wireless/802.11) and follow navigations
--> please ignore unicode warnings and error (this will be fixed in next HPLIP release)
--> Once navigation completes, shows IP address on UI.

2) run hp-setup with above IP address
$ hp-setup <IP address>

If you still found the problem, please post above commands output here.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

Hi Amarnath,

still no luck. Same problem occurred during step 1 you proposed. Below is hp-setup -g output, it doesn't start from beginning as it seems it's very long so this is all I got in terminal:

Hi,

If network cable is connect to the printer, please remove Ethernet cable and try this.

If still not working, please setup wifi using Printer front panel. Once setup is completed, panel shows IP address and run hp-setup using this IP address.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

Hi Amarnath,

as my Wifi router is not WPS enabled, can I install printer using some computer with Windows OS, just to make it retrieve IP address and then use hp-setup using that IP address to make it available on my Linux laptop?

Thanks and best regards
