HP Update Manager doesn't work

Hi,

Currently which version of HPLIP installed in your system? We will into issue of dialog disappearing.

Meanwhile, please run hp-upgrade command in the terminal to upgrade to latest version .
$ hp-upgrade

HPLIP-3.12.11

It updated but Icannot print anymore because a printer plugin is missing
although I installed it several times (automatically and after
downloading it onto my computer)
I had that before but I cannot find the solution anymore.

If plugin message is coming multiple time, please make following change in root mode.

$ chmod 755 /var/lib/hp

it was already set like this.
Anyway, after today's PC start everything works fine.
Linux goes Windows one more time.

Today I tried to update, but I got the following messages (in red):
RE-CHECKING DEPENDENCIES

sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory
sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory
error: A required dependency 'make (make - GNU make utility to maintain
groups of programs)' is still missing.
error: Installation cannot continue without this dependency.
error: Please manually install this dependency and re-run this installer.
Upgrade Failed or Skipped.

And what is worse: I cannot print anymore.
What now?

If auto installation is not supported or failed for your distro, refer http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html for packages and installation instructions.

Ubuntu 12.04

All packages mentioned there are installed.
Also the missing dependeny in the error message: make. How can I do
this: "re-run this installer"?
About once in a month I get the request to update the HP-software, and
it has ALWAYS worked until yesterday.

You can disable the upgrade message by deselecting "hp-systray (hp logo seen in task manager)-->settings-->'check and notify HPLIP updates'"

For Make dependancy issue. Please install "build-essential" package.
$ sudo apt-get install build-essential

-->all dependencies should be installed by running auto installation ($sh hplip-3.13.11.run). if not, just follow below steps.

    1) go to hplip-3.13.11 folder ( assuming hplip-3.13.11.run is downloaded to ~/Downloads folder, change accordingly).

        $ cd ~/Downloads/hplip-3.13.11

     2) remove installation logs if any
        $ rm hplip-install*.log

     3) run installer in debug mode
       $ python ./install.py -g

--> if same error occurs, attach hplip-install-<time data>.log by creating BUG in this launchpad.

Please download the latest hplip 3.14.6 drivers from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html and run command
'sh hplip-3.14.6.run' in terminal. This will auto install the hplip in your system.
