papersize DIN A3 not selectable

Asked by Peter Gsellmann

Using: HP Color LaserJet CP5225dn with Duplexer and additional A3-papertray, Fedora 17, hplip-3.12.11-1.fc17.x86_64, cups-1.5.4-11.fc17.x86_64; Intel core-i7 machine with lots of ram and diskspace;

Created the printer object in CUPS.

In _any_ application on "print"->"properties"->"pagesize", i get a popup with ~27 papersizes, which amongst others contains A4,A5,A6,B5 and other funny papers, but no A3(297x420mm) !

If i select "custom" with the intent to enter 297x420 the input boxes for width and height are greyed out.
There is also no selectable paper 16.5x11.7in .

Is this papersize forgotten? This is an A3-printer!

Printing on A4-paper is fine, also the duplexer works as expected.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue in HPLIP.
While creating a print queue you can select PS PPD (hp-color_laserjet_cp5225dn-ps). This will contain correct paper size entries. Moreover you can follow following things to have latest HPLIP driver installed.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html (automatic installer) or
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html (manual installation, if automatic installer does not work)

=> run "hp-check --fix" command in the terminal if manual installation is done

=> Reconfigure print queue with the commands in the terminal mentioned below.
       => system-config-printer (remove all print queues)
      => su -c "hp-plugin"
             or
      => sudo hp-plugin (This will download right plugin)
       => hp-setup (It should not be run in a root mode. This command is adding print queue, make sure you select ppd name having "-ps" or "hpcups" substring)
=>Try printing now.
