Scan on multi function printer and store result using usb on PC

Asked by Vit Bernatik

I can scan using "hp-scan" command. But my scanner is far and I want to be able to control scanning from scanner. When scanner is connected on windows it is possible to scan using scanner interface and result is stored via USB on PC's HDD. Is it possible to do the same when scanner is connected to linux? My printer/scanner is: Ink Advantage 4625. BTW I know there shall be possible to use wifi and store it through samba - but I do not want to turn on wifi. I prefer to use USB connection only. Thanks for any hint...

Hi,

Scan job started from the scanner can not be stored to Linux machine using HPLIP. This functionality is not supported in HPLIP.

Thanks,
Sanjay

check if your scanner is supported by the button daemon:
http://scanbd.sourceforge.net/
this is waiting for events from the scanner, then you can define what to do...
