Hp-setup asking for [root] password.

Asked by jkgoose

After running: "./hplip-3.12.11.run" everything works great until I select my printer in the gui system and it asks for the root password, since I'm using Ubuntu, and they don't allow for root users, I can't change the username and select my username to type in my password. I know the work around of "sudo ./hplip-3.12.11.run" will work but then I can't delete the folder that it creates. I wonder if this was purposely designed this way?

Hi,

In general, HPLIP queries for the user (sudo's) password for admin functionality.
Please let us know where exactly requested for root password instead of sudo (i.e. in Installation or hp-setup etc. exact steps to reproduce).

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
