HPLIP

hp laserjet m1132 MFP no longer working on hplip 3-12-11

Dear all,

hp laserjet m1132 mfp seems to be not working since I have installed the latest hplip 3.12.11 on ubuntu 10.4

there is a device communication error and hp--check fails to register the plugin

it is printing no more

what is going on ?

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue in HPLIP. To help us understand and analyze the issue please follow following things.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html (automatic installer) or
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html (manual installation, if automatic installer does not work)

=> run "hp-check --fix" command in the terminal if manual installation is done

=> Reconfigure print queue with the commands in the terminal mentioned below.
       => system-config-printer (remove all print queues)
      => su -c "hp-plugin"
             or
      => sudo hp-plugin (This will download right plugin)
       => hp-setup (It should not be run in a root mode. This command is adding print queue, make sure you select ppd name having "-ps" or "hpcups" substring)
=>Try printing now.

If problem does not get solved then please run following command to capture the logs and send the logs.

$su -c "hp-logcapture"

=>Document used for printing.

=>Scaned copy of printed document.

**Please use "Create a bug report" to attach the logs as "Ask a Question" does not provide the file attachment option

Dear Sanjay

here is the out put of hp--check every time AFTER I have successfully downloaded and installed (or so it says ) the plugin
with hp-plugin

error: Required plug-in status: Not installed
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Professional_M1132_MFP?serial=000000000QH65F6GSI1c
error: Device not found
error: Communication status: Failed

My printer was working fine under a previous version of Hplip . upgrading to the newest 3.12.11 has botched everything

Dear Sanjay,

After many trials, I realized it might be the SMART INSTALLER feature of the printer that might
cause the problem. I got back to windows, fail to properly install the printer ( yes ,it fails, it sees it as a scanner only ), then manage anyway to disable the smart installer using the SIutility.exe on the hp cdrom and got back again on ubuntu and.............it works !! phew

Whether it was really SMART INSTALLER that causes the problem, and why on earth I did not have any problem
on hplip 312.10a and 3.11 before, I do not know and may never know
