installing drive behind proxy server

Asked by Rathin Dholakia

I am trying to install HP MFP M1522nf printer on my ubuntu 12.10. the printer is located on LAN and our network is proxy protected, means Internet can be only accessed after giving UID and PASS. now when i run hplip, after installation it needs to download PLUGIN from the server, but it fail (due to proxy) now in such case what to do? I searched for manual plugin download but I found it no where.. Is there any work around??

Hi Rathin,

Whether visudo file update with proxy details?

If not, please add "Defaults env_keep += “ftp_proxy http_proxy https_proxy”"
refer http://techteam.wordpress.com/2009/02/11/setting-proxy-for-sudo-sudo-export-http_proxy-doesnt-work/

If yes and still not working, try to install in root mode.
$ sudo su
$ su -
$ hp-plugin -g

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
