ARM-support for proprietary plugin

Asked by merlin

Hello,

I'd like to use my Raspberry PI as printing server in combination with the HP LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP printer. Unfortunately, it needs the hplip-plugin binary plugin to work. Though I ran hp-setup, a plugin has not been successfully installed.

I guess this is because lacking support for ARM architecture.

Is there a armv6 build of hplip-plugin? If not, is it possible to provide one?

Please contact me if you need further information.

Hello,

thanks for your answer, but of course this is not satisfying as my problem is not solved.

According to the HPLIP Website, a specific architecture is not required to use the printer, and in fact the website does not say that the *plugin* is only available on specific architectures.

Is ARM-support planned in the future? Why not?

Is there any contact person, or person responsible that I could talk to, maybe at HP?

Hello,

I think this subject still needs some attention. From my point of view, HP (or HPLIP or whatever) told me: "You need HPLIP with plugin to get the printer to work, no matter what architecture." Now you tell me that this is not correct, without pointing out why there is no plugin. Is this a case of a "closed source fail" (→ some HP guideline → someone must be responsible → this someone should answer here), or is it because HPLIP does not want to support ARM due to a technical or whatever reason?

Regards, merlin

I've been following this thread for sometime. I'm also trying to get cups running on raspbian to support HP LaserJet m1132 MFP printer's proprietary plugin.

Did someone open a wishlist bug for this issue? If no one did, I will open one.

Any update on this? I have HP M1213 MFP, the plug-in does not work for ARM. I use Cloud Print, but I am not happy as it is slow.

Hi all,

I have installed the HP M1132 MFP printer on Raspberry Pi so that it prints without proprietary plugins. I have written a brief guide available at http://juanvillar.blogspot.com.es

I hope it helps

Plugin files for ARM are now supported in hplip 3.15.4
