HPLIP - libusb dependency

Asked by Steffen Pankratz

This is more a feature request than a question.

My printer is connected via Ethernet only and not USB.
So why is libusb needed by HPLIP?

There are switches for network and parallel but not for USB?

--enable-network-build enable network build (default=yes)
--enable-pp-build enable parallel port build (default=yes)

Would such a switch make sense?

I can imagine it would require a fare amount of work to decouple USB support from HPLIP
but I think this would be a great feature.

Regards, Steffen.

Hey Steffen,

I agree with this. It's been added to our todo list, although I can't say for sure when it will be implemented.

Thanks for your support!
