hpdeskjet 2430 ubuntu 6.06 can't print

Have Ubuntu 6.06 installed, have an Epson C40 attached by USB. I can print to the Epson. Removed Epson and downloaded HPLIP 2.7.12. Attached an HP 2430 to USB. The HP Device Manager shows everything is OK. However, the test page stops in the print queue with the following message: Stopped: job stopped. I can not resume or get it to print. The printer works under Windows XP.

I've tried the Ubuntu's printer wizard with similar results. Attached is the log from hp-check -t.

I don't think you have the correct PPD file installed for your printer. According to our support table, a D2430 should not be supported untill HPLIP 1.7.4. You're PPD file description suggests a different PPD than what you need. Do you remember what choices you had for PPD file? You can also try and setup a new queue using hp-setup verifying that you choose the right PPD and try again...

Thanks John,

It was the wrong driver. I went back through all of the HP drivers and selected the HP_Deskjet-2400. It now works. I guess I assumed that the recommended driver that the configuration program selected would be correct. Thanks again for your help and input.
