HP4620 printer - cannot scan to computer - how ???

Asked by Betsy Phillips

Have a dual boot Toshiba Satellite M115 S3049 with XP in Windows side and Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on other side. Installed HP4620 all-in-one and it's working. Cannot find how to use the scanner connection between the computer and the HP4620.

<help> B-) And thanks in advance.

When I try to do this, the HP4620 cannot find the computer -- not sure if it's configured for that action, i.e. scanning to computer, so you can attach it to an email and so forth. Not sure how to look for the configuration, but will try. I've used windows for years, but am an "absolute beginner" PERIOD.

Hi,

HPLIP does not support device initiated scan but PC initiated scan using a SANE compatible software application is supported over parallel, USB, or network (depending on I/O connection).

Run the command 'hp-scan' in terminal or click on the 'scan' icon on HP Device Manager for scanning in Linux machine.

Thanks and Regards
