My new HP 4620 OfficeJet printer is not supported and not on Unsupported list. I would like to be able to use it.

Asked by Alexander Bumgardner

I purchased on HP Office jet 4620 just the other week. I am using Ubuntu Linux 11.10, 32-bit. I tried to use the add printer utility, but the 4620 model was not in the database. I also tried to find the PPD on the installation disk for Windows and could not find it. So, I found this forum. When looking for my printer, to see if HPLIP would support my printer, I could find it nowhere. I also checked the unsupported printers list, and it was not there either. What do I do? Does anyone know when my model will be added? If not, can I use Wine, or some emulator, to run the installation disk, and communicate with my printer? Or will I have to take it back?

Just to be thorough, I have not attempted to use other drivers from other models, or any other step. I am awaiting information before trying my hand.
