Is the HPLIP-3.12.6 download/notification process incomplete?

Can someone please tell me why(Friday, 8th June 2012):

1) I get a notification screen to download and install 3.12.6 and when I click to install nothing actually happens?

2) When I then go to the download page, the notification still states that only 3.12.4 is available and the current version?

3) Having downloaded the "latest" version, I still get the notification in settings stating, "HPLIP-3.12.4 version was installed on 13-05-2012. New version of HPLIP-3.12.6 is available for upgrade."

I can't get my HP LaserJet P1005 to work reliably as it is and it becomes all the more frustrating when a carrot is dangled with new updates, only to find that they don't exist or there's some complicated process to get me there.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. HPLIP-3.12.6 release has been paused for a while. It will be available soon ( in a day or very few days)...

Sorry to warm this up again, but I assume the new LaserJet Pro M401 device will be supported by 3.12.6 as well and I have this device in front of me, is there a expected release date of the new version? Or is there a source repository somewhere for me to get the PPD out of it?
