Printhead Error on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

Asked by Raquel

The print head seems to missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible. I have the OfficeJet Pro 8600 and I have read the manual and followed the HELP section on the customer care website which told me to reinstall the printerhead. See below:
How to Reinstall the printhead:

Note This procedure should only be performed when a Missing or Failed Printhead message has been seen and the printer has first been turned off and then back on to try to resolve the message. If the message persists, try this procedure.

To reinstall the printhead

Make sure that the printer is turned on.

Open the ink cartridge access door.

Lift the latch handle on the print carriage.

Remove the printhead by lifting it up and then pulling it out of the printer.

Make sure the latch handle is raised, and then reinsert the printhead.

Carefully lower the latch handle.

Note Make sure you lower the latch handle before reinserting the ink cartridges. Leaving the latch handle raised can result in incorrectly seated ink cartridges and problems printing. The latch must remain down in order to correctly install the ink cartridges.

Close the ink cartridge access door.

That didn't work so I would like additional assistance. I got the printer about 3 weeks ago.

Thanks,
