prints in the color when the text on the screen is black

Asked by Kathleen Harker

All four cartridges are installed and full on my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer. When I am printing messages from my e-mail, the messages are printing in a combination of black, red (mostly red), and blue (for some, but not all web addresses). The text on the screen is black. Why won't it print in black? It always has in the past.

We would request you to help us by provide some logs to analyse this issue.
Below are the steps to capture the same,

1.Open the file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf in write permissions.
$sudo gedit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
 Change LogLevel warn to LogLevel debug and below that line add hpLogLevel 15.

2. Restart the cups
$sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart

3. Empty the message file and error_log file.

$ sudo cat /dev/null > /var/log/syslog
$ sudo cat /dev/null > /var/log/cups/error_log

4. Reproduce the print issue.

5. Capture the syslog and error_log files

$ sudo cat /var/log/syslog > ~/Desktop/syslog.txt
$ sudo cat /var/log/cups/error_log > ~/Desktop/error_log.txt

Attach the files syslog.txt and error_log.txt

6. In /tmp folder you will find files with name starting with hpcups like, hpcupsfilterc_1.bmp, hpcupsfilterk_1. bmp, hpcups_jobX.out.

Can you please attach those files.

7. Run command "hp-check -t" in terminal and provide its terminal output.

(In Questions there is no option to upload the attachments)
Click on the link below it will ask you "summary of the bug" then click next, at the bottom you will see "No i want to report a new bug". click on that and then again at the bottom you will find "extra options" click on that finally at the end you will see a place to upload your attachements.

I have no idea how to do all the things you suggested. I think I will
have to get a computer guru in to fix this problem.

I have no idea how to do what you suggested on the computer and
printer. I may have to bring in a computer expert to look at the
problem here.
