Can not network HP L7580

Asked by William Miller

I have been unsuccessful in using Printer Configuration to network my HP L7580. The printer is connected via cat 5 to a router. I have been successful in networking with Windows XP. I have been successful using the printer on Ubuntu via a USB cable. There are 6 Printer Configuration options and I don't which to choose.
Please advise

Sorry I'm not exactly sure what your main problem is. You can't configure the printer to print over the network?

If you run:

sudo hp-setup

select Network printer, then either the printer will appear or if not click find printer manually, type in the ip address, complete the setup process and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps.

Problem solved but required a work around. hp-setup hung at "Enter Printer Information" window. The window accepted data but the "Next" button never become active. I took the URI from an earlier hp-setup screen and entered it into the "Printer Configuration" dialog. This works. I can now print and scan via my local router network. Thanks very much for your help.
