HP 8700 Cartridge Problem

Asked by David Vincent-Jones

I have, on current Ubuntu, installed HPLIP with the GUI; all of this appears to be fine.
My 3 existing color cartridges (Tri-Color, Photo-Blue and Gray-Photo) all correctly appear in the <Supplies> tab with correct levels.
Under <Print Settings / Quality> I am unable to display my correct cartridge set. All that I can set is (Black + Color Cart.)
Should I be loading some extra ICC profiles ... and where are current profiles located?

Thanks

David

David,

You want to print using the gray photo pin? Is that the pin set you are missing?

Aaron;

In the quality setup, HLIP only shows an option for printing with Black + Tri-Color this is basically a 4 color output.

There should be an option for printing with Tri-Color + Blue-Photo + Gray-Photo which would be the full 9 color output.

I notice that all of the cartridges are correctly reported within the system including the correct ink levels but the option/setting for their usage is not shown.

Help would be appreciated;

David

The printer senses the installed pen sets. Selecting the Black+Color cartridges will still give you the right results. The driver sends RGB data to the printer and the printer firmware does the rest.

Thank you for the prompt answer ... I will try this and try to ascertain results of the output; if needed I will come back again.
