Officejet 8100 is plugged in via usb cable, but the installtion gui does not find the printer

Asked by Ed

I'm trying to set up wireless on a new OfficeJet 8100 Wireless printer using the hplip installation utility. The printer is plugged into the computer via the usb cable. However, I'm getting the "No wireless devices found message", and so can proceed no further. Any advice, pointers etc. appreciated.

Try this,

From printer control panel try to connect the printer to the nearest router to get the IP address for your printer.
Make sure your PC is also connected to the router and run command "hp-setup" in terminal and select the second option "Networ/Ethernet/Wireless" and click on "show advance option" and check on the "Manual discovery" and enter the IP address of the printer and proceed by clicking Next.

Check if your printer is able to be detected in the setup toolbox.

Let us know on the same.
