error: HPMUDEXT could not be loaded

After installing the program i go and run sudo hp-setup or su hp-setup to setup my first printer and get the error: HPMUDEXT could not be loaded, i am new to linux and running RHEL5 (Carthage).

Does a gui interface need to be installed to use this program?

You don't need the gui to configure the printer. You can run:

hp-setup -i

which will run hp-setup in interactive mode.

RedHat does not use sudo, it uses su so you'll want to use that instead of sudo.

Can you also run hp-check -t and post the output?

Okay great.

So if you run:

su
hp-setup -i

is the printer configured?

Are you on a 64 bit or 32 bit system?

Please run:

ls -l /usr/lib/libhpmud*

and post the output.

32 bit systems i also ran the config ./configure --disable-scan-build option b/c didn't want to install a dependices with that and didn't need feature FYI

It doesn't seem the the install completed successful. Did you run:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-scan-build?

If you didn't do the --prefix then the install didn't go into the correct place. you may need to reinstall again.

Still issues

Now when I ran the su -c "make install" i received the following error

Nevermind I think it's working not, i had to delete the folder and unpack again then run the commands thanks for all the help
