Printing stalling (C7280)

Asked by Demosthenes

I have a C7280 networked via 802.11g (WPA1) and signal is fine (web access is fine) but printing is stalling half way through print jobs with 'continuing' on the printer screen and the print queue stuck on 'processing' - no errors showing up on the web page as far as I can see. I am printing from PDF duplex with 300dpi draft.

When I try to cancel the job it gets stuck on 'cancelling' on the printer screen and the print queue icon on the computer has a red 'dash' next to it indicating a problem but I can't see a problem in any status window. The HP-LIP status window is also stuck on 'cancelling'.

Argh - tried to start another job and I just get "Printer Error - Printer (printer name): 'other'." No other error or indication that I can see that helps me understand the problem.

It seems to be printing okay now, only thing I changed was 'quality controlled by printout mode'. But I have only printed a few pages. It is still printing duplex from Mozilla which I have set the HP-Toolbox app to do which is good though.

this is the most weird thing, it seems to be printing okay although the 'genera' error occurred once while printing although it continued seemingly without problem. The error only seems to occur when printing PDF's at the moment with Document Viewer 2.20.1 (http://www.gnome.org/projects/evince).

The only think that has changed that I can think of is that I now have the 'quality controlled by printout mode' option set and set 'draft' in the print out mode as required, although the error did occur once again, I have been printing all night without problems.
