Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

HI CWorm,

1. The HPLIP version installed in your system is 3.10.2. The latest HPLIP 3.11.12 is available at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html. Please download the "hplip-3.11.12.run" file and install it by running command "sh hplip-3.11.12.run" in terminal. This will auto install the HPLIP 3.11.12 and add user to lp and sys group which is required to add the previledges to the user for configuring (or setup) of the printer.

2. Please delete any print queues created for this printer in the "system-config-printer".

3. Now, setup the printer using the command "hp-setup" in terminal and check if the device is able to be detected by the driver and configured.

4. If the problem still persists post us the output of "hp-setup -g" command.

Let us know on the same. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Best Regards,
Goutam

Hi...

Run this command to add 'lp' group to your username.

# sudo usermod -g lp <username>

Once lp group is added, you can print/scan.

Hi,

The hplip version installed in your system is very old. Can you please upgrade this to the latest 3.12.2.
Download the latest hplip from the http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html.

Install the package by running command "sh hplip-3.12.2.run"

Provide me the "hp-check -t" command output after the upgrade.

Thanks,
Goutam K

Sorry for the delay in rsponding- but the version downloade from HPLIP is what
is in the the info Ive sent- it may be old but thats what the HP site gave me;
I'll try again. Secondly I tried a manuel install; wich at least got me to get a
job completed
message and but also a cannot communicate with USB device. Am I getting the
wrong drivers because the HPLIP site does not list my printer as choice for
drivers needed, I have a 2355- 2350 is closet choice- I changed the USB DEVICE
name to what its showing listewd now. I need to send you that read out but am
not home at the moment.
Also I have found a simpler way to add lp user in the system/printer screen
where you can manege printers and group access. Locate the add user pop up
(wrong terminoligy I think)- type in the name of the user (the name of the
acount for the particular user) and I finaly got rid of that problem that let me
get to where the issue is now; wich is closer to working but still so far away-
buy the way I am totaly new to Linux and am wondering why the suggestions to
type into the terminal- but I have found some things can be done in th pop up
boxes- is the terminal the best way to add hardware?

The hplip version installed in your system is 3.10.2. The log info which you have posted here is clearly showing that version.
Please install the hplip-3.12.2 from the hplip-3.12.2.run file downloading it from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html.

You would need to run command "sh hplip-3.12.2.run" in terminal for auto install of the package.
