cp1525nw hp-plugin

Asked by Xendon

Hello to all,

My question is why needs the cp1525nw (color laser printer) the non-free hp-plugin and the cp1525n (ethernet only) does not.
What is the different? Only the Wifi module or some firmware stuff ?
In other case has anybody tested the printer without the hp-plugin?
At last does anybody know how long the plugin is normally supported? Because I dislike to buy a new printer in 2 or 3 years because of I couldn't install the plugin on a newer Linux or BSD System.

So I'm unsure if I should buy the cp1525nw or the cp1525n because of that non-free stuff.

Thanks

Hi Xendon,

Downloading plugin is free only, no need to buy separately.
cp1525n and cp1525nw has same firmware and only difference is cp1525nw contains wifi support.

Even cp1525nw also doesn't require the plugin, we will fix it in next HPLIP release. For time being you can download using "sudo hp-plugin" command.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
