The error is:
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_Professional_P1102w?serial=000000000Q91AKZ6SI1c

I've tried to install the printer manually (with the right bus e device):

sudo hp-setup -g 001:005

at the end, the printer has been added, but the error of communication didn't change and the printer doesn't work.

Hi Gian,

I tested printing of this device in the lab (Ubuntu 11.10 + HPLIP 3.11.10 ) and I am not able to reproduce the issue here. Please try following options.

OPTION 1
-----------------
1) restart cups service
      sudo service cups restart

2)kill systray
    kill -9 <systray process ID>

3) remove all print queues by running following command.
    system-config-printer

4) Add print queue again with following command
    hp-setup -g

If OPTION 1 fails then please try this.

OPTION 2
-------------------
Replace USB cable and then try again.

If this also fails then please try 3rd option.

OPTION 3
------------------
Upgrade firmware. For this you can get in touch with HP total care.

Thanks,
Sanjay

Hi,
Thanks for reporting the issue. Please provide the output of the following command from the terminal.
                =>lsusb -d 03f0:032a -v | grep "bNumInterfaces"
If output is "bNumInterfaces 1", then the issue is because of enabled Smart install feature. If smart install feature is enabled, your device will be detected as CDRom from where you can install the software on windows. Unfortunately we don't support this feature in Linux However disabling it from Linux is under development. If you disable this feature on device, your device will be detected in Linux. So as a workaround to disable this you should have a windows machine and can follow the below steps.
1. Download the Full Driver for Windows from www.hp.com or http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=4075452&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
2. Run the exe, extract it to a folder.
3. Go to extracted folder/UTIL directory
4. Connect your device.
5. Run SIUtility.exe and follow the wizard to disable the feature.

I successfully disabled the "Smart" features using a Windows laptop. Now:

$ lsusb -v -d 03f0:102a
...
    bNumInterfaces 2

But when I run hp-setup and select the 3rd option, "Wireless/802.11, output on the console says: "error: No devices found on bus: usb" even though it was able to send a test page using USB. So something else must be wrong. Is there anything else I can look for? I like this printer and would prefer to keep it if I can get it to print with Wifi.
