cp1215 plugin download issue

Asked by Chase Weber

Hello and thank you in advance for your help. I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on an AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800. I plugged in my HP Color LaserJet CP1215 printer using USB. It recognized it and the install went well but I am having an issue downloading the plug-in. I have installed the GUI for hplip. I click on "Install required plugin" in the Actions Menu and a screen pops up that gives me two options. I select the first option which reads "Download and Install plug-in from an HP authorized server" and click next. An error message pops up saying "ERROR: Plug-in file does not match its digital signature. File may have been corrupted or altered. Error code: 2"

I had this error with ubuntu 11.04. I did a clean install for 11.10 and still the same error.

Please download hplip-3.11.10 from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html and install it using "sh hplip-3.11.10.run" in commandline. Connect the printer to host via USB and run "hp-setup" in commandline. It will ask for a plugin file to download and install. Once setup is complete, you can print.

If you still have any issue, please post the output of "hp-check -t" here.

Hi.
I am trying to install Hp-lip but it's not possible. As you suggested, I post the output of "hp-check -t".

HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.11.10)
Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.3

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Hi,

hplip 3.11.10 is installed in your system. You need to copy the library files present in /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib.
Run this command : " sudo cp -R /usr/lib64/* /usr/lib "

Delete the print queue created in "system-config-printer"

Run command "hp-setup" and configure your printer.

Let us know on the same.

Thanks & Regards,
Goutam Kodu

Hi goutamkk.

Since I posted the bug I had to reinstall the system from a clean install.

So far, the problems have no reproduced and "hp-check -t" doesn't identify any issues to resolve.

Thanks.
