Error installing hplip 3.11.10 - checksum error

Asked by Ramamohan

I have Ubuntu 11.10 installed on my laptop and trying to install HP Laserjet 1020 printer. I downloaded hplip 3.11.10 and tried to install from Terminal. When I gave command - sh hplip-3.11.10.run - following is the error:

Creating directory hplip-3.11.10
Verifying archive integrity...Error in MD5 checksums: 61ecde6d0f501fe96435ea364a53dcc1 is different from 36f452c28c4295e675beb83bb3694c1f

Please advise on how to install the printer successfully.

Hi,

Can you delete the existing hplip-3.11.10.run file and download the file again from
http://space.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.11.10/hplip-3.11.10.run.

Run command wget "http://space.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.11.10/hplip-3.11.10.run" to download it.
After download of the file hplip-3.11.10.run, check its md5sum. By running command : "md5sum hplip-3.11.10.run".

Next run command "sh hplip-3.11.10.run" and post us its terminal output.

Thanks,
Goutam

Dear Goutham,

Thank you very much. I downloaded the file again and run it. Though the
checksum error did not come this time, there is another issue cropped up
after running the hplip-3.11.10.run.

While installing the printer, the program tried to download a plug-in
for HP Laserjet 1020 and came up with the following error:

Error: Plug-in file does not match its digital signature
File may have been corrupt or altered
Error Code:2

Please suggest what can be done to resolve this.

Thanks,

Rama Mohan
