How do I install the hplip plugin on a system without a root password?

Asked by Tom

The plugin installation requests a root password. We do not and cannot use root passwords (ubuntu/debian). How do we tell it to use sudo?

Hi Thomas,
If user has sudo permissions, hp-plugin can be run by using "sudo hp-plugin" command.

Note:- If your internet is proxy based internet, as sudo doesn't export environment variable, please update visudo with environment variables by following these steps

$ sudo visudo
--> add below line into this file.
Defaults env_keep+="http_proxy https_proxy ftp_proxy"

Please let us know if you need further information.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
