Hp printer showing wrong error message on fedora 15.

Asked by Rags

Hi, I'm using a hp laserjet M1132 MFP at my workplace which is directly connected to my Fedora 15 machine. It id doing all printing works, still it gives an error message printer not connected and sometimes error 5012 where it doesn't print and I have to again go to hp device manager and configure things. Is there any solution for this problem??

Thanks,
Ragesh.

Hi,

Please post us the output of "hp-check -t" command.

This problem could be because there might be different print queues created for the same printer.
Please open the window "system-config-printer" by running it in terminal. There you will find the print queues created for your printer. For now, please delete all the print queues created in it.
Run command "hp-setup" in terminal and setup your printer. And check if you are finding the same problem while printing.

Let us know on the same.

Thanks & Regards,
Goutam Kodu

Thanx gautam for ur previous reply. I appreciate ur help and knowledge. That really did help, I've been struck with the same problem for more than 4 days. Actually I have another problem which is again related to the same printer but with another machine running on Windows7. The pc detects the printer in network but on giving the print command, system shows job is in queue but doesn't give an output print copy. Samba is installed on the fedora machine for communicating with windows. If this problem is solved, my network printing will work without any problem.

Thanks,
Ragesh.

Let me give u some more information, The windows7 machine is not directly connected to the printer. The printer is locally connected to the fedora 15 machine and Windows machine and Fedora machine are in network.

Your previous reply helped me to connect the printer in network with other machines also which run on linux mint.

Thanks,
Ragesh.

HI Goutam,
The problem got solved.. I had to Set the network printer as the default printer and remove other unwanted ones from control panel of windows 7. Samba did the trick and now my network printing is working fine with 2 Linux mint11, 1 Fedora 15 and 2 Windows 7 machines.

Thanx,
Ragesh.
