HP laserjet p1006 proprietary binary plugin using hp-setup won't download

Asked by Roger Ramsden

As I suggested above I have an HP Laserjet p1006 printer. It is installed up to the point of getting the proprietary binary plugin. I run hp-setup and it just sits there with no response when trying to download the plugin. I have looked at all of the information that I can find and have tried everything that has been suggested and nothing seems to work. I have the hplip 3.11.3a plugin installed. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Roger,

Can you try any of the following things.

1) Go to super user mod and then add printer using hp-setup
   i.e => sudo su
       => hp-setup

2) Manually download plugin file (hplip-3.11.3a-plugin.run) from http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/
and the run in terminal as:
              => sh hplip-3.11.3a-plugin.run

If none of the above work then please send me the output of

      => hp-check -t

Thanks for using HPLIP.

Thanks,
