Photosmart C7280 prints inverted colors

Asked by Charles

When I print web site pages, the embedded photographs come out in inverted colors on my Photosmart C7280. Even when I download a jpeg picture and print it, it has inverted colors, while on screen, the pictures are OK.

But when I take that pictures (which prints inverted colors) and copy the jpg file to a usb stick and print the picture directly from the usb stick in the printer it is OK!. So, the jpg is OK, but somewhere my printing goes through wrong filters, which invert colors.

Any idea?

This is on Linux Opensuse 11.1, with hplip-hpijs-3.10.2-15.2, hplip-3.10.2-15.2 and foomatic-filters-3.0.2-269.47.1. There may be something odd in this combination, because I have locked the foomatic-filters version. An update to a 4.0.1 version (available) conflicts with the ghostscript-library available for Opensuse 11.1).

I don't know the answer but foomatic-filters should have
nothing to do with it because in the PPD files of our
hplip-hpijs package there the "cupsFilter" entry
points to "foomatic-rip-hplip" which is HPLIP's own
version of foomatic-rip:
/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip-hplip

Note that HPLIP provides two drivers: HPIJS and HPCUPS.
Perhaps the issue happens only with one driver, compare

Thank you. The driver used was H"P Photosmart 7200, hpcups..." and changing it to "HP Photosmart 7200 Series hpijs, 3.10.2rc1.9 (color, 2-sided printing)" solved the problem.
