Print jobs disappering into queue

Asked by joe tittiger

My Deskjet 1000 under Ubuntu 10.4 (really UE 2.8)
The print jobs disappear into the queue are then listed as completed yet nothing ever prints.

The printer works fine under windows 7.

TIA
Joe

Thanks so much Ani.

Yes it is the J110 series.

Hi Joe,

From the log I could see the printer is not HPLIP installed. Could you please run hp-setup and add tye printer using the required connectivity type? It would be great if you can upgrade the HPLIP to 3.10.9 and resolve the dependencies shown above before adding the printer.

Thank you so much for using HPLIP.

Ani Balakrishnan

Ani,

First I tried hp-setup -i
and got the following error:

Enter number 0...2 for connection type (q=quit, enter=usb*) ?
Using connection type: usb
error: No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality.

-------------------------------

I am making progress.... I am not very Linux literate but I got the HP driver to try and install (sh hplip-3.10.9.run) but it choked because of a dependency:

warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: cups-devel (CUPS devel- Common Unix Printing System development files)

I have no idea how to do this.

Joe

I did find some cups files with synaptic package manager but not the package you mentioned.
They were all development packages.

I have a screen shot but do not see how to attach it on this forum.

Thanks in advance

I am finding and installing some of the dependencies but for a lot of them then names do not correspond to the output of

hp-check -t

In some cases there are a dozen of so that are close but not exact.

I still have a few issues though.
Now when I try to print I get the following:

warningjobThere is a missing print filter for DJ1000
