Internal error when attempting to download RHEL5 RPM

Asked by Rob

When following the download wizard (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install_wizard/index.html) I'm getting the following error at the end: "There was an internal error when attempting to download the HPLIP package you specified." My parameters were Red Hat Enterprise Linux, 5.0, Laserjet 2055dn, & x86_64. I went to sourceforge so see if I could download it direct but did not see an RPM listed for any version. Are RPM files still available? Any chance of getting a direct download link?

Hi Rob,

 Please try to download the HPLIP Package from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html and follow the instructions.

Thanks and Regards

That's how I originally tried installing but it complains about missing dependencies that are already installed (e.g. gcc) so I thought I'd have better luck with the RPM. Guess I'll skip the automatic installer & compile from source.

Thanks,

Rob

Please use the RHEL installation instruction available at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/redhatenterprise.html

if you are already installed, then you can skip the error/warning messages displaying in hp-check log.
those packages are required in compilation time, once if you have compiled you don't required those packages.

Thanks,

I am following those instructions but the problem is step #2: Download the RHEL HPLIP RPM Package. That's where I get the "There was an internal error when attempting to download the HPLIP package you specified" message. I'd love to install the RPM but I get that error when I try to download from hplipopensource.com and the RPM is not available via sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/hplip/files/).

RPM Packages are available form http://www.hplipopensource.com site only.
is the options selected are some as below

Red Hat Enterprise Linux
5.0
Laserjet/LaserJet MFP/Mopier
HP Lasetjet p2055dn printer

for the above settings, i was able to download the RPM Package.

even you can try by selecting any printer/model (after RHEL and 5.0), the RPM Package is only one for all Printers.

Thanks,

I give up. Nothing I do gives me anything other than a "There was an internal error when attempting to download the HPLIP package you specified. Please try downloading the HPLIP Automatic Installer." message.

I've tried WinXP (IE8 & Firefox 3.6), OS X (Safari 5, Chrome 6, Firefox 3.6), and RHEL 5 (Firefox 3.6) as well as both my home & work internet connections. All give the internal error message. None of my co-workers are able to download it either.

http://hplipopensource.com
Download HPLIP >>
Select Distribution -> Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Select Version -> 5.0
Select Printer Type -> Laserjet/LaserJet MFP/Mopier
Select Printer Model -> HP Laserjet p2055dn Printer
Next >>
You must download and install HPLIP in order to use your printer with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0.
Please click Next to download HPLIP.
Next >>
Select Processor -> x86_64 (tried i386 too)

Can get a direct download link to the RPM?
