how do I upgrade to 2.6.9 or latter linux? I dont see it in synaptic how do I make it visable?

how do I upgrade to 2.6.9 or latter linux? I dont see it in synaptic how do I make it visable?
A driver for a chip module made by ftdi ft2232h is in linux 2.6.9 or latter. But the newest ubuntu is a older kernel I think kernel is the right word.

there is no 2.6.9.x kernel at least not yet
you can download the the newest kernel from http://www.kernel.org/
there you can download the latest stable kernel which is 2.6.35.4, unstable ones and older ones

the driver compiling makes a error list too long to see the top how
can i see the list im using make provided. i got all the things
synaptic sugjests with gcc

did you try installing it from synaptic?
in the search dialog write "hplip" and choice it for installing
and if it requested anything it will mark it with it
and it will download it and install it for you

You can download latest version of HPLIP from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install.html.
