I submitted this bug...

600262 HPLIP not printing, musb.c errors Undecided New

It's been over a month, I've tried every thing I can think of and I still can't get my printer working... It was working in previous kernels.
I've received no suggestions.

Hi Derrick,

Could you please confirm if HPLIP driver 3.10.2 worked fine for you on Kernel 2.6.34.1 - this is if you are seeing this problem only from HPLIP 3.10.5.

Thanks,
Suma

After I did everything I can think of as far as permissions / udev... I tried one more thing.. and it worked.

Even though the kernel .config was the same one I was using on previous kernels that worked... I downloaded Slackware's hugh smp kernel .config with every default option under the sun and it worked! I'm now going through disabling a little at a time to see what caused this.. I also compared the old & new dmesg, lsmod, .config, I couldn't find any differences that would cause it to work / not work. What other dependences does HP backend require to print as far default kernel configuration goes? It's very strange I've had no other problems with any other USB devices on my system.

Once I figure out the exact cause I'll post it back here... I know of a few other people with the same problem who still haven't resolved it and will post in those forums too.

Can you help with this problem?
