No colour scanning with LaserJet Professional M1132 MFP

Asked by Mika Kuusela

Hello,

I'm having an issue with scanning on my LaserJet Professional M1132 MFP, namely, the lack of colour scanning. When using xsane 0.997, I only have the option of lineart or greyscale scanning. Any ideas? The HPLIP info page for this model reports a full support level, but I don't think having only b/w scanning is anyone's idea of full functionality.
My system is a fully updated Fedora 13 x86_64 and I'm using the latest HPLIP drivers (3.10.5) supplied by Fedora. Printing works fine, as does greyscale scanning.

Below is the output of 'hp-check -t':

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are installed
to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper
dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Hi Mika,

This model (HP LaserJet Professional M1132 MFP) doesnt support Color scanning. It is a Mono Printer.

Sorry for the inconvinience.

Thanks and Regards,
Srikanth Lokare

Thank you for the quick response Srikanth,

It is indeed a monocolour printer, but the scanner hardware component definitely supports full colour (tested in Windows XP).

What I'd like to know is that do the HPLIP drivers for some reason lack support for colour scanning or is this perhaps a bug or a configuration error on my files?

Hi Mika,

You are correct. Scanner hardware supports full color. It is a bug with our HPLIP driver. It is there in our to do list.

Thanks for your continuous support towards HPLIP.

Thanks and Regards,
Srikanth Lokare
