Banding in photos not present with Windows driver

Asked by MMarking

Using HPLIP 3.10.2 with a Photosmart C5580 and the HP 75/99 carts for photo printing. From Gimp or any other application within Linux using HPLIP, photos sometimes have very small banding problems. Cleaning the carts with hot water on a towel *sometimes* fixes or reduces the problem temporarily. However, even without cleaning the carts, this banding problem is not present when printing with the Windows driver. The Windows drive appears to use some processing to smooth out the banding lines so they're not as noticeable. Is there something that HPLIP can do about this? Why are the printing processing options in the Windows driver different from the HPLIP driver?

Creation of print ready data in Linux and Windows is different. Print out taken from windows and Linux may not match exactly.
And currently I don't think HPLIP can do anything about it. We may look for this problem in future.

Can you help with this problem?
