The PPD for HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z

Asked by Álvaro Morán

I have installed the latest hplip (HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.10.5) Printer/Fax Setup Utility ver. 9.0) over Kubuntu 9.10 and when I run the hp-setup (and select the 3rd option - Wireless/802.11 that requires a temporal USB connection-) altough it detects the printer then it says that is lacks the PPD configuration file. ¿Where can I find it or I can choose the PPD of another similar printer?

Hi,

You can get the ppd file from your installation folder. For eg.

hplip-3.10.5/ppd/hpcups/hp-photosmart_wireless_b109n-z.ppd.gz/hp-photosmart_wireless_b109n-z.ppd

Now paste the ppd file in your desktop. Then while running hp-setup, if it is asking for ppd file, you can select the same ppd file which is saved in your desktop. Fianally restart CUPS and try again. Hope this works fine.

Thanks for using HPLIP.

Thank you very much, when I reinstalled HPLIP it didn't copied the new ppd.

One last question, can I now remove the folder where I obtained the ppd (the decompresed after running "sh hplip-3.10.5.run")?
If I do: "$ls /usr/share/ppd/hplip/HP/ |grep *wirele*"
I obtain: "Coincidencia en el fichero binario hp-photosmart_wireless_b109n-z.ppd.gz"
So I suppose I can (/usr/share/ppd/hplip/HP/ is the default location no the decompresed folder)
