HPLIP will not enable pp-build for deskjet 5550 ubuntu lucid

Asked by Larry Shields

I am trying to install the hplip script for my deskjet 5550, using either a=automatic or c=custom, neither shows enable pp-build for using a parallel port cable...I am running Ubuntu 10.4 lucid OS, and have downloaded your driver for this printer, but it will not as I said let me enable parallel support...

Any help would be helpful...

Thanks

Please go to extracted hplip-3.10.2 directory and run ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-pp-build.

Thanks!

Thanks very much for the info, it did the trick...I now have the option to choose the parallel printer...

But it now seems that my port 631 will not let me access it, using cups...

I have tried different commands yet nothing shows the printer, using netstat, & nmap...

So I will keep checking to see what is missing for it too work...

Again, thank you for replying back to me...
