Problem with the scanner of an HP 109f all in one printer

Hello,

I am trying to install an HP photosmart series all-in one printer on a computer running Ubuntu 9.10. The printing is ok but the HP Device manager doesn't recognise the device and Xsane neither.

I think it is bug in HPLIP. We will fix it in upcoming release.
To fix this:
Open /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat as root(sudo)
replace photosmart_b109a_series with photosmart_b109a-m
scanning should work now using xsane.

For printing you can use hp-photosmart_b109a_series.ppd file.

This bug reappeared with HPLIP 3.19: The section '[photosmart_b109a-m]' was removed from '/usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat' (only section '[photosmart_b109a_series]' is there, but that is not sufficient to match the device for scanning).

In HPLIP 3.18, both sections were present.
