When will a Photosmart B109a-m be provided?

Asked by andreaszdw

HPLIP supports Photosmart B109a but hp-check says that I have an Photosmart B109a-m, which is not provided by HPLIP so my scanner is not supported. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 as OS. The printer is supported. Can you tell me, if in the next release the B109a-m is supported?

HPLIP 3.9.10 supports Photosmart B109a-m.
You can install the latest version (3.10.2) of HPLIP from http://hplipopensource.com/

I'm not on my on PC, so I can't show you the hp-check output. It shows me, that b109a-m is unknown. On the HPLIP homepage is shown, that b109a, b109c, b109e, b109d, b109q, b109n and b109q=r are supported. In the list isn't the b109a-m included. Is there any logic mistake at me?

I found the hp-photosmart_b109a_series.ppd file. Could I change the Product name on line 10 from b109a to b109a-m, so I could it use with my type of printer, especially the scanner?

I think it is bug in HPLIP. We will fix it in upcoming release.
To fix this:
Open /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat as root(sudo)
replace photosmart_b109a_series with photosmart_b109a-m
scanning should work now using xsane.

For printing you can use hp-photosmart_b109a_series.ppd file.

Hi,

I have a problem in getting working my Photosmart b109a printer through hplip.
I think I have a problem with usb bus in recognizing the printer.

I post the make uri and hp ckeck.

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper
dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Can you please download and install latest HPLIP 3.10.6 release from www.hplip.net.
Latest HPLIP will support upto Debian 5.0.4.
Please select distro as Debian 5.0.4 when auto installation prompts for distro check.

Restart your machine after completing auto installation.

Thanks,
Srikanth Lokare

That solved the problem, thank you very much.

1. I wasn't in the lp group. So I add "user" to lp group.
2. I also compiled hplip 3.10.6. for my Debian (5.0.5.) version (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/535056)
3. After rebooting I was able to print the printer's test page and my printer was correctly recognized.
Thnx a lot for your help,

Valerio

Try plugging your iPhone into your computer to see if it will charge. If it charges up a bit, see if it will sync. Cancel the sync and perform a restore in iTunes http://www.iphonesupportnumber.com/blog/fix-iphone-error-code-4013/
