HPLIP

would like to set up HP 8500 for two computers

I have purchased a HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer; my wife and I want to run two laptop PC's off of this one printer. Can you tell me how to set up this printer so we can both use it at the same time?

Are you using windows or linux?

If Linux , please install hplip on both of your laptops. I believe your printer is having wireless support. If yes , after adding the printers you can test out by sending jobs to your printer. It should work with out any issues.
