prnt/hpcups/HPCupsFilter.cpp 505: cupsRasterOpen failed

Asked by draft

I cannot print all PDFs with hpcups. The PDFs I cannot print have rasterized graphics included. Since my printer does not have enough RAM, I have to use the PCL drivers, as with the postscript drivers, I run out of memory on my HP3020 printer. But with the with the PCL driver I get the following error: "prnt/hpcups/HPCupsFilter.cpp 505: cupsRasterOpen failed, fd = 0". My version is hplip 3.9.12

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling
the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper
dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

I figured out, that I was sending an empty file, since gs crashed. Whenever I have transparencies in the PDF, gs does not seem to like it and quits, sending an empty file. So its not hplip but gs related.
