hplip release levels

Asked by Bernard Smart

Debian Lenny

HP Deskjet D2660

Printer List shows HPLIP 3.9.6 as the required hplip release, is the current release 3.9.12 suitable.

Sorry for a rather simple and silly question from one who started working for IBM in 1963 and retired from Siemens in 2001.

Many Thanks

Bernard.

Printer model is supported from 3.9.6 release onwards. :) It's always advisable to use the latest & current version of HPLIP.

Thanks,

A

Hi Bernard...

Regarding HPLIP... I would answer...
It depends which bug you prefer facing... !

2.8.6 b . Built with QT4 support. => hp-toolbox does not work because looking for pyQt3...
Then up to 3.9.8.hp-toolbox problem is solved but... many of us have been reporting an incorrect definition of the A4 page format leading to incorrect margins
I am on my way with 3.9.12 discovering other troubles making I just cannot print !

No criticizing meant... 3.9.12 is marked unstable on my distribution (Gentoo). It could well be rightfully unstable for some distributions...

Good luck !

Thanks

Release level problem with hplip resolved OK, I am however having a problem with dependencies when installing hplip 3.9.12, I will submit as a different problem if I am unable to correct.
