scanning problem with officejet 6500

I have just installed my Officejet 6500 e709 but it wont scan. When I select "scan picture" from the Device Manager, I get this error "scanner could not be initialised. (An error occurred communicating with the scanner".
How do I fix this?

Check for the below KB article with respect to trouble-shooting of scanning problems:

If problem does not get fixed , please share the syslog . Also , share the hp-check -t log.
