Xsane Scan Image size requirements:
-----------------------------------------------------

Xsane is a popular open source graphical interface for scanning. Scan Drivers will gives the information to XSANE to show the device/scanner capabilities. To know more information on Xsane, please visit http://www.xsane.org

Xsane terminates abnormally if the scanned image size is too big for it to handle and this problem is out of HPLIP control.
For example, assume the image size to scan for selected scan job options is 8GB, system has 2GB main memory and it has 32bit processor. Host / System will start receiving the scan image once user clicks on scan button in Xsane. As the Virtual memory size for 32bit processor is 4GB and the maximum file size is 2GB, XSane will not be able to show the whole scan image or Xsane terminal abnormally.

The known combination which results in Xsane termination is as given below.
Resolution: 4800
XxY Dimension: 8.5x11.6 and above
Scan Mode: Color

Note: on 4800 scan resolution reduce the scan image's y-dimension by 0.4 inch, if scan job is not able to start.
You can change the scan image dimension by click ctrl+6 from Xsane. Starting of scan at 4800 image resolution will take little bit more time when compared to scan at 100 scan resolution.
