In the export CSV functionality, how can I specify the number of decimal places of the amount quantity?

Asked by Carlos Fernández

Hi,

I'm using the export CSV functionality of Homebank and I would like to be able to specify the number of decimal places of the amount column. I think that, by default, the number of decimal places should be equal to the "frac digits" property of the currency.

Best regards,

Carlos

Using CSV format, presumably you're loading the CSV datafile into a spreadsheet or similar package which would treat the amount as numeric. More specifically you could set it as a currency, and format that imported data column appropriately.

Having said that, for me the CSV output always has 2 decimal places even if the amount as no cents just dollars (e.g. 20.00 or -2000.00).

The problem is the CSV file that homebank generates: the amount column only has 2 decimal places, while the currency that I'm using has 8 decimal places ("frac digits"=8).

Eight - ouch! Hadn't thought about bitcoin or some equivalent currency. Does HomeBank happily handle that within the app?!

Yes, within the app it works perfectly fine, the only problem I have found is when I try to export it (either as CSV or as QIF). What should I do? Should I open an issue?
