Problem location of data file.

Asked by Southcot

I have installed and am using HomeBank 4.04. In the preferences it shows the wallet location to be "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername". However the data file, "personal accounts.xhb" is located in "C:\Documents and Settings" this is not an appropriate location as any backup of my profile misses it. How can I change the location of the data file.

You can change it on the preferences.
I don't understand exaclty what the problem is. There is a default value but you can get rid of it and use any other location.

Before I move it I waned to understand the way the location works. As mentioned before, in preferences it shows my Wallet, Import and Export locations as:-

"C:\Documents and Settings\myusername"

Yet the data file "personal accounts.xhb" is located in "C:\Documents and Settings"

From this I have to deuce that there isn't a clear relationship between the two or was this just some sore of glitch during the install?

The location are just set into the preferences as an helper to open the dialog to (default) this location when no file is opened.
Anyway, homebank will always save the file to its original location, so I if for exemple you have opened a file from D:\myfolder\myaccount.xhb, it will of course saved here and the dialog will use the path of the file, so if for exampe you select the file save as menu, you will be at the same location of the current file (so here D:\myfolder).
Hope this is clear and awser your question.
