New saved filter in release candidate 5.8 not friendly

Asked by R Collin

I have just installed the new release candidate 5.8 version to try out the saved filters. Something I have been waiting for for a very long time. While they do work they are a bit clunky to use. That is once a filter has been set up. To use the filter to have to:
1. Select the saved filter from the drop down
2. Click on the edit filter button
3. Click on 'Use'
This is not intuitive. Surely a better way to do this is to just select the saved filter from the drop down and this selection will then filter the data without having to click 'edit' and then 'use'.
This is the way that filters in all other programs work. A single click on the filter and hey presto the filter is applied.

I am hoping that this will be improved on before the final release!

The coded design is just of course to select the filter from the dropdown, and it is applied.
I would not have coded a such silly behavior intentionally.
Are you in the stats report of the ledger ?

Hi Maxime,

I think there is a bug somewhere. Of course you would not have made such silly behaviour intentionally! Your software is much too good!
I have tried again today and it was working as intended but has now gone back to not filtering. I have two filters saved, both in the statistic report. One works with a single click - it is a simple filter with just a single category filter. The other does not work. I use the drop down box to select the saved filter and nothing happens. I have to use Edit filter then 'use' to make it apply. This is a more complicated filter with three categories included and a custom date. The other behaviour I observed is that although the custom date is not applied the Range does change from All Date to Custom. I hope this helps.

Hey,

this was indeed a bug, with custom date range only.

just use the refresh toolbar button to apply in waiting, no need to open the filter dialog
