How can you register payments made for another person?

Asked by Teodor Neagu

It often happens to me that I pay with my debit card for another person and that person returns me in cash. For example - I buy 3 products for myself and two products for a friend. He returns my money (debt) in cash or by bank transfer. In my account statement, the total amount appears, of which 3 products are mine and two are my friend's. if he returns me the debt in cash in a split transaction, I should have the option to transfer to the cash account. I also have situations where I paid in EUR from my bank account for a friend and he returned cash in RON.

it's like that -
I pay with my debit card for products from a seller, 3 products are mine and two are my friend's product, I register them as a split transaction by category and my friend returns my money cash. now in the account from which I paid it appears that the entire amount has been spent and in the report it appears that I spent more money to that seller. or another example. I went out to a pub with two friends. I paid the bill with my debit card (ING Bank), one of my friends returned the money to me in cash and the second friend by bank transfer on Revolut.

I have not found a solution to register these transactions.

I think that the problem can be solved if in "split transaction" you can have the option that part of the amount can be transferred to an account. (eg a loan account, cash account or bank account).

Thank you!

Ok, I got your point and your solution.

I have the same problem and I solved creating a category named as a daughter (in my case)
2024-03-10 § CREDIT CARD § ANNA § GROCERY STORE § apples § -30€
2024-04-13 § CASH § ANNA § GROCERY STORE § refund apples § +30€

total by months:
2024-03 § ANNA § -30
2024-03 § GROCERY STORE § -30
2024-04 § ANNA § +30
2024-04 § GROCERY STORE § +30

BUT, total by year:
2024 § ANNA § zero
2024 § GROCERY STORE § zero

The fact that the category can appear in the "top 10 spending" is not a matter for me.
Ciao
