Account type names issue

Asked by John Smith

I've been looking for a replacement for MS Money for some time and came across your product through online recommendations. At first glance I thought it would be ideal, but as soon as I started to set things up, I ran into more questions than answers.
My existing Money file has well over 20 years of history most of which is no longer relevant or useful, so I was going to start from scratch. I started to set up my current active accounts and realised that you don't have a account type for "Investments". I also don't like the term "Checking" - this is an American term that we do not use in the UK. Unless I am mistaken, I cannot see anywhere where Account Types can be edited or created/deleted? Is there such a function? If not, can this be added? Also, although I want to start from scratch I do want to be able to enter unreconciled transactions since my last statements. However, when I create a new account the default open date is the current date so transactions earlier than that don't work. Is it possible to manually set an account opening date? Hope you can help. Thanks

I am facing the same issue while working for my clients website https://topcaptionideas.com/. I cannot see where account types are created or deleted.

 "Checking" . Edit>Preferences...>Locale. Change to en-GB

"Account Types" . Manage>Accounts... (etc)

JK1 - this does not answer my questions. Changing the Locale does nothing to change the predefined account names. I want to be able to change those names. "Checking" is an Americanism. In the United Kingdom we call such accounts "Current". There is also no "Investments" in the predefined options - I'd like to be able to add it.

I am British and I have just started to use HB. I have recently modified the translation to Current which will be available in the next release or you can download from the translation page. The only thing I can suggest for pre. options is to use Savings and Group.

Can you help with this problem?
