Credit Card showing up green

Asked by Tracy Zellers

I have added two credit cards to my HomeBank. I have previously used Quicken and there the credit cards are shown in red and as a negative but here it shows as green and a positive. Did I enter it incorrectly or do something wrong?

Thank you,
Tracy

The color representation of credit card transactions in financial software like HomeBank may vary based on how the software visually represents positive and negative amounts. In many financial applications, green typically indicates positive or inflow, while red denotes negative or outflow.

In the context of credit cards, positive values may represent credit card charges or purchases (money spent), while negative values could indicate payments made towards the credit card (reducing the balance or debt). This is a common convention to visually distinguish between different types of financial transactions.

It's likely that your credit card transactions are correctly entered, and the color representation in HomeBank is just following a different color scheme compared to Quicken. To ensure accuracy, you can review the transaction details and confirm that expenses are marked as positive and payments as negative, aligning with standard accounting principles. If you have any concerns, consulting HomeBank's documentation or support resources could provide additional insights specific to the software you are using.
